Service Description: Serving more than 3300 partially sighted, blind and deaf/blind Niagara residents, free of charge. Enhancing and maintaining independence via core services such as: VISION REHABILITATION: identification of optical and non-optical low vision aids. REHABILITATION TEACHING: assistance in daily living skills, ie personal care and safety. ORIENTATION & MOBILITY: developing or re-establishing travel skills, ie using public transportation, cane travel, support in prior dog guide training. VOLUNTEER SERVICES: Opportunities available working directly with clients, operational/program assistance, and local CNIB events. LIBRARY SERVICES: Thousands of books, magazines and videos in braille and audio format delivered postage free. Services are available to all residence of the Niagara Region. Services are client centred.

There is a shop CNIB store on site. All appointments with CNIB Specialists are scheduled and conducted in the community or in the Low Vision Centre located on site. Five remote sites throughout Niagara are conducted to enable clients in the Niagara Region to access staff and CNIB support. Contact CNIB Niagara for dates and times. In-services provided to agencies; to enhance knowledge of working with blind and partially sighted consumers, as well as Information series on eye conditions and adaptive devices.

Fees: None * CNIB identification card $10 every 5 years
Application: Referrals are accepted from Eye Care Professionals, Doctors and self referrals and community partners * An eye report is needed from an eye care professional to better meet individuals needs and meet the requirements of the ADP Program * All rehabilitation assessment appointments must be booked with Vision Rehabilitation Specialist
