Service Description: Vision: Create a society inclusive of people with physical disabilities.
INDEPENDENT LIVING SERVICES offers several programs:
ATTENDANT SERVICES - OUTREACH provides attendant
services assistance with daily living activities (rising/retiring, personal hygiene, meal preparation) to persons 16 years and over, in their homes on a regular basis.
SUPPORTIVE HOUSING SERVICE CENTRES Ridley Terrace Service Centre, Scott Street Service Centre and Faith Lutheran Villa Service Centre in St Catharines and Stamford Kiwanis Manor Service Centre in Niagara Falls offer attendant services. A Respite unit is available at the Ridley Terrace location.
WELLNESS SUPPORTIVE LIVING PROGRAM offers attendant care from 7 am to 11 pm, 7 days a week for Seniors living within these four sites: 211 King St, Welland; 4900 Buckley Ave, Niagara Falls; 15 Gale Cres and 479 Carlton St, St Catharines.
Wellness HUB Programs provide 24 hour attendant care services for seniors in their homes in the areas surrounding 211 King St, Welland and 479 Carlton St, St Catharines and 4900 Buckley Ave, Niagara Falls.
ASSISTED LIVING SERVICES OUTREACH provides light to moderate attendant services assistance with daily living activities (rising/retiring, personal hygiene, meal preparation) to persons in their home between the hours of 6 am to 12 midnight.
FEE-FOR-SERVICE services are available to care providers, whether they are needed for a few hours, overnight, a weekend or longer. Call to see what services are available at an affordable price.
HOME SUPPORT EXERCISE PROGRAM a 12 week free program led by a trained worker that provides gentle exercises to eligible seniors in their own home to help with mobility to keep healthy, safe and strong.
VOLUNTEER BEFRIENDING AND FUNDRAISING SERVICES offers the Volunteer Befriending Program to persons 16 years and over. Volunteers help with daily activities such as grocery shopping, assistance in getting to medical appointments, leisure activities and friendship on a long-term basis. Volunteers are also recruited to participate in fundraising, committee work, special events and other support services.
RECREATION AND INTEGRATION SERVICES provides a variety of quality recreation opportunities from year-round holiday experiences at Geneva Park, to travel education and other assistance for those who like to plan their own vacations. For Geneva Park, Mainstream Adventures, Travel Information and Travel Education contact the Supervisor, Regional Volunteer Services.
DESIGNABILITY is comprised of a group of volunteers with creative minds and hands, who build simple, low-cost gadgets that give independence to people with physical disabilities. For local chapter information please contact the office.
OTHER PROGRAMS include the Post-Polio Registry, Niagara Post-Polio Chapter, Government Relations.
