Service Description: Seating clinics to help improve comfort, posture, and the ability to perform daily activities with specialized seating or mobility devices

Services provided by occupational therapists and an occupational therapist/physiotherapist assistant in collaboration with a wheelchair vendor include:
  • assessment and consultation
  • equipment recommendation
  • Assistive Devices Program application authorization
  • education on wound prevention and management, postural management, and appropriate use of equipment
  • equipment selection and integration
  • expertise in power and manual wheelchairs, as well as modular and custom postural supports with matching equipment to clinical needs
  • expertise in addressing pressure wounds
  • expertise in matching equipment to clinical needs

Progression level of rehabilitative care for patients working to restore or maximize functionality

Fees: Set fees * publicly-funded services available to those who are eligible * funding may be available through the Assistive Devices Program or private insurance
Application: Medical referral required
Eligibility / Target Population: Adults with complex seating and positioning needs that cannot be met in the community or in hospital inpatient programs
