Service Description: Local office of the Public Guardian and Trustee * protects the interests of private citizens or estates as required * protection of interests and financial situations of adults who may be mentally incapable of making their own decisions, following a thorough investigation of the situation

Local office has professionals in social work, health care and finances * services for people who may need their interests protected include (when necessary):
  • conducting capacity investigations
  • managing finances
  • making personal care decisions
  • appointing private guardians of property
  • arranging legal representation in capacity proceeding
  • making decisions about treatment and admission to long-term care
  • reviewing accounts
  • acting as a litigation guardian or legal representative

Head office also offers a legal services branch and property guardianship
