Service Description: Support, orientation and temporary accommodation for Government Assisted Refugees for the first 4-6 weeks of arrival * resettlement includes includes an initial stay in temporary housing and support with documentation, welcome and orientation to life in Canada, including healthcare and education * services include:
  • securing temporary accommodations
  • securing first home in Canada and assistance with moving preparations
  • information about life in Canada (healthcare, government and community services, housing, public transportation, Canadian laws and norms)
  • assistance with banking and budgeting
  • support with learning about shoipping
  • assistance with accessing healthcare

Referrals are made through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
Eligibility / Target Population: Government Assisted Refugees within 4-6 weeks of arrival to Hamilton * Client Support Services within a year of arrival
