Service Description: Free counselling services and supports to adults 55 years and older who have hearing loss to help improve communication with family, friends, and service providers * assistance provided to enable individuals to stay involved in social activities and to remain safe and independent at home * services are provided in an accessible and safe environment, including home visits, in-office appointment, or virtually

Counselling and Support
  • one-on-one hearing screenings
  • preparation for managing difficult listening situations
  • recommendations and support with installation of visual smoke alarms, doorbells, assistive listening devices, and phone alerting systems
Education, Training, and Information
  • family and caregiver support on how to communicate with someone who has hearing loss
  • training for individuals and home support providers on the use, care, and maintenance of hearing aids, assistive listening devices, specialized telephones, and alerting devices
  • referrals to other CHS programs and services, or agencies that offer alternate services as needed
  • hosting presentations, community displays, workshops, classes and learning groups
Sound Advice on Hearing Health Workshops
  • virtual workshops to help improve communication, increase confidence, self-advocate, and decrease isolation * workshops held via Zoom * some local workshops may also be available depending upon location in the community
